FLAG RULES
GREEN -  GO: Race is started.
YELLOW - CAUTION: Decelerate and form a single line, no passing. Continue in
         single line until cars are lined up as to racing position at last completed
         green lap. (lap counter's decision)
RED -    STOP ALL ACTION: Come to a complete stop. Do not stop immediately in 
         order for the cars behind you to come to a safe stop. First car to receive   
         a red flag should proceed to a position, if possible, where the driver
         can have a clear view of the flag stand. (eg. # 2 corner) When directed,        
         proceed to start/finish line for re-alignment of positions.      
         
RED & YELLOW TOGETHER - Hot Laps complete, return to infield.
BLACK - RETURN TO PITS IMMEDIATELY: When receiving the black flag, pull out 
        of traffic flow and slow down. Pull into pits as soon as possible. Pit Boss
        will give reason for black flag if requested.
BLACK WITH YELLOW DOT - CAR HAS MECHANICAL TROUBLE which flag person
        has deemed unsafe. Report to pits immediately to get repairs. Car may re-
        enter race safely after repairs are made and passed by Officials in the pit.
BLUE WITH YELLOW STRIPE - Indicates car is to hold it's position, as it is about 
        to be lapped by a faster car.
WHITE - ONE LAP REMAINING: Last lap to go in the race.
CROSSED FLAGS - The event is halfway complete.
CHECKERED - END OF EVENT: Race is over, no extra laps except winning car 
            proceeds to start/finish line to accept award. In case of a close finish
            by two or more cars, flag person and timing stand will decide finishing
            positions.
In the event of a conflict between lights and starter flags, the starters flag shall be                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       
deemed to be correct.All drivers must know the meaning of the flags, and obey them.

PLEASE SELECT THE CLASS OF VEHICLE THAT FALLS WITHIN YOUR RACING BUDGET.WHILE EVERY EFFORT

IS MADE TO MAKE THIS SPORT AS SAFE AS POSSIBLE, PARTICIPANTS ARE CAUTIONED THAT THERE MAY BE SOME RISK WHICH THEY RECOGNIZE AND ACCEPT. ALL PIT PASS HOLDERS MUST HAVE OWN MEDICAL COVERAGE. PARTICIPANTS MUST REPORT ANY PRIOR OR ON-GOING INJURY OR DISABILITY IN WRITING TO EXECUTIVE PRIOR TO ENTERING ANY RACE. PARTICIPANTS ALSO AGREE TO READ AND ABIDE BY ALL TRACK AND RACING RULES AND TO OBEY ALL TRACK OFFICIALS.

IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF ALL PERSONS ENTERING THE PIT AREA TO KNOW AND ABIDE BY THE RULES.

AUTO RACING
SAFETY RULES
SR1 - Drivers must wear Schnell, D.O.T. or C.S.A. approved helmet with shield or
      goggles. Helmet must give full head coverage, and be safety approved.
SR2 - All drivers must wear an approved fire retardent long sleeved coverall or drivers suit.

 

FIRE RETARDANT FORMULA
9 oz. Borax
4 oz. Boric acid
1 gallon warm water
Dissolve thoroughly, dip coveralls and hang to dry. Repeat after each washing. Unused 
solution can be used again. Use 100% cotton coveralls. 

IF THE CAR DOES NOT HAVE A FULL WINDSHIELD, THE FOLLOWING DRIVERS APPAREL IS MANDATORY:
SCHNELL 80 (OR BETTER) APPROVED FULL FACE HELMET AND VISOR.
NOMEX HOOD. 
NOMEX GLOVES.                                                                                       
SFI 3 DRIVING SUIT OR SINGLE LAYER SUIT AND NOMEX UNDER GARMENTS. FIRE RESISTANT DRIVING 
SHOES RECOMMENDED.
SR3 - NECK BRACE Mandatory.
SR4 - Drivers must remain in cars during all events except for fires or roll overs.
SR5 - Minimum 2 1/2 LBS "ABC" rated fire extinguisher required for each car in 
      the pit area, or properly mounted in car, and easily accessible.
SR6 - All cars MUST have working hydraulic brakes.
SR7 - Cars MUST be approved by Technical Committee before being allowed
      on the track. Decisions of the Rules Committee are FINAL.
SR8 - ALL NEW DRIVERS AND/OR CARS MUST PARTICIPATE IN AT LEAST 
      ONE PRACTICE BEFORE THEIR FIRST RACE.
SR9 - No one is allowed on the track until the following conditions are met: 
      (on both race and practice days)         
   A. Ambulance is in attendance.(or first aid attendant)
   B. Fire equipment is on hand.
   C. Tow vehicle is on hand.
   D. Flagman is in charge of traffic.
   E. Permission is granted from official in charge.
   F. Helmet and eye protection must be worn.
   G. Cars must have been safety checked and passed.
   H. Seat belts and window nets must be used at all times while cars are on on the track.   
   I. Minimum of two people must have first aid.  
SR10 - All cars must be securely blocked while making repairs in the pit.
SR11 - Any car involved in a serious accident must be safety checked by
       Technical Inspector or Track Officials before re-entering the race.
       It is the drivers responsibility to notify officials that the car is ready to 
       re-inspect.
SR12 - Speeding or spinning tires in the pits will not be tolerated,and will be     
       considered a serious offense subject to suspension,fine, and/or loss 
       of points.
SR13 - ALL INTERPRETATIONS OF THE RULES SHALL BE DECIDED AT THE RULES COMMITTEE LEVEL.
TRI-PORT MOTOR SPORTS
AUTO RACING RULES
TR1 - Persons must be 14 years or older to be a voting member.
TR2 - Minors entering the pit must be under the supervision of an adult
      and have a valid reason for entering the pits.
TR3 - Any person in the pits MUST have a pit pass displayed in a conspicuous
      place on his or her person, and have signed a liability release at the pit gate
      for that day. To be in the pit area during racing, all persons must pass
      through the pit gate. Persons entering the pit area must also sign form 
      stating that he or she has read all the rules and understands them.They
      also agree to abide by these rules.
TR4 - All persons admitted to the pits must wear:
      A. White Pants and a shirt, or clean coveralls.
      B. If night racing is implemented, white coveralls will be required. Shirt
         and pants, or coveralls must be worn at all times.
      C. Drivers only may wear driving suits.
"REMEMBER, THIS IS A SHOW"
NOTE: Track Officials must wear red or orange coveralls, or a safety vest.
TR5 - The number of persons on any cars pit crew will be limited to (4) persons,
      including the driver.
TR6 - Track Officials reserve the right to reject any person applying for pit entry,
      and to eject any person whatsoever from the pits.
TR7 - Cars left in the pits must be adequately disabled.(Drivers responsibility) 
      Broken cars must be removed. (See officials)
TR8 - Tow trucks are for track use only and are not required to lift cars for repairs.
      This is the responsibility of the pit crew.
TR9 - No crew person or other non official in the pit area will be allowed on the 
      track, track entrance or to exit during a race event, except with the 
      permission of the Pit Boss or Starter. EVEN ON A RED FLAG!
TR10- Cars will be parked as directed by the Pit Boss. Private vehicles and trailers
       are to be removed from the pits as quickly as possible, and parked in the
       designated area.NO private vehicles to enter pits until 15 minutes after   
       completion of the last event.
TR.11-NO intoxicants or drugs- The use of intoxicants or drugs by any person 
      in the pits before or during the course of an event is strictly forbidden. Violators 
      will be removed immediately.Suspensions may be imposed at the discretion of the track 
      officials. 
TR12- Anyone acting in anyway to the detriment of the track, club or racing in general 
      will be barred from the track.                                                                                                          
TR13- Any member acting in an un-sportsmanlike manner either on or off the track will be penalized.
TR14- Foul language will not be tolerated. Any swearing at or around a track official, or 
      in a manner that subjects fans to hear it, WILL be subject to a $25 fine, to be paid BEFORE 
      the offenders car is allowed to resume racing. 
TR15- Anyone using a club fire extinguisher must report such use to a track or safety 
      official so that it can be suitably marked and filled. 
TR16- All cars must be kept in reasonable repair and body panels removed due to a crash 
      must be repaired or replaced by next race meet. 
TR17- No cars are to be removed from speedway grounds for 15 minutes after completion of 
      the days events unless directed by the pit-boss.
TR18- ALL cars MUST pass technical inspection in the class they are running in.NOTE; A $20 charge 
      per inspection will be charged for any inspections done away from the tech shop.Intake 
      manifolds MUST be sealed, inspected or un-inspected, prior to first event. Seal may only 
      be broken by tech man. ALL top ends must have been INSPECTED prior to season ending payouts.
TR19- COMPLIANCE WITH BUILDING RULES:
PROTESTS:      
Any protest must specify the component being protested.ie: The engine can't be protested, it 
must be specified what the protest is, such as;   
      a. Intake manifold.
      b. Ignition system.                                                                                                              
      c. Camshaft/Valve lift.
      d. Pistons. This includes bore.
      e. Angle milling of heads or block. 
      f. Fuel system. This includes carb and pump.
      g. Engine model.
In the case of other suspected infractions, such as suspension, brakes, transmission, flywheel or 
torque converters, the infraction must be specified.
The protest must be in writing and signed by the driver making the protest.Only drivers from 
the same class may file a protest.
Protests requiring the removal of any component that will require gasket replacement must be 
accompanied by a deposit of:
      $100.00 for Mini Stock
      $200.00 for Stock
If the protest is found to be valid, the protester will be refunded their money respectively, 
in full. If the protest is not valid, $250.00(SS)/$150.00(S) will go to the car being protested, 
and $50.00 will go to the Tech Committee.             5.                          

All other protests will require a deposit of $150.00. If the protest is found to be valid, the 
protester will be refunded $150.00.If the protest is not valid,$100.00 will go to the car being 
protested, and $50.00 will go to the Tech Committee.All labor to facilitate inspecting a protest 
is the responsibility of the protested car.
In the event that an inspection after a protest shows some other infraction not protested, 
the car will be penalized for these additional infractions and will not be    
allowed to run until these infractions have been remedied and re-inspected.
Safety items require no deposit or written protest.
RANDOM INSPECTIONS BY TECH COMMITTEE:
The tech committee has the right, without compensation to the car, it's owner or 
driver, to inspect any component or components at any time without prior warning
gaskets or gasket costs will be reimbursed to legal cars. Car owners have the    
option of having the engines inspected and sealed at the start of the season.  
Inspected and sealed engines are not subject to mid-season tear downs
TIME AND LOCATION OF INSPECTIONS;
The time and location of inspections is at the sole discretion of the tech committee
Every effort will be made to protect the car from outside damage during an inspection but 
the tech committee is not responsible for such damage.
TR20- The rules committee reserves the right, through a majority vote, to tear down any car, 
in any class, at any time. The tech committee reserves the right to cause any part of a car to be 
inspected at any time. Sealed engines are not subject to teardown and inspection of sealed section
of engine provided seal is not tampered with.The club will reimburse gasket costs to legal cars 
except for year end teardowns.
TR21.a- All cars racing at NORTH ISLAND EXHIBITION GROUNDS must conform to 
TRI-PORT MOTOR SPORTS ASSOCIATION rules and regulations. Some   exceptions           
for visiting cars may be exercised at the discretion of the tech committee. This is a courtesy 
which the track extends to out-of-town racers, not a loophole to be exploited by those who wish 
to pick and choose between different track's rulebooks.
TR21.b- All visiting cars must be legal at their home track and must have       
        competed in at least two point paying events during that season.                   
TR22 - Car class rules can be changed only by the Rules Committee. Mid season 
       changes require a majority decision of the RULES COMMITTEE.            
TR23 - All interpretations of the rules shall be decided at the Rules Committee                 
       level. In the event of a dispute over interpretation, a decision will be made
       by a majority vote.
TR24 - Pit stalls must be kept clean. Garbage cans are provided throughout the pit 
       area.
TR26 - ALL OUTSTANDING FINES MUST BE PAID BEFORE CAR AND/OR DRIVER  
       IS ALLOWED ON THE TRACK.           
TR27 - Any misrepresentation of stock production engine requiring more than 1
       hour of tech time may result in disqualification of specific car and driver,      
       or drivers for three consecutive point races. NO EXCEPTIONS.        
       All cars subject to technical inspection before, or after being allowed on
       the track.Decision of the Technical Committee is final.       
       Anything not specifically allowed in the rules may be classed as illegal.
       
TR28 - Any car found to be illegal may lose 100% of it's accumulated points, or be         
       suspended from racing. Penalties at the discretion of the Rules Committee.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    
TR29 - It is the responsibility of the driver and/or their pit crew to supply all                 
       tools and labor to allow inspections to be performed. It is the 
       responsibility of the Tech Committee to supply such tools as may be 
       required, to measure or inspect car and components, and to perform
       these inspections.
          
TR30 - Year end inspection will cause the top 4 cars  (plus 1 car picked at              
       random by the Tech Committee) in all classes to be inspected. Items
       inspected will be at the discretion of the Tech Committee. Sealed engines
       will not have that portion of the engine tore down that has been sealed,
       providing the seal has not been tampered with. See TR28 for possible
       penalties

AUTO RACING
RUNNING RULES
RR1 -  The driver is responsible for his car and crew during a race event.
RR2 -  Cars entering the pit must proceed directly to their pit stall, and 
       not stop in the exit or entrance.
RR3 -  Pit Boss is in charge of all cars while in the pits.
RR4 -  Cars on the track are under the control of the Starter.
RR5 -  All race cars directed to pack must do so. Failure to do so
       may result in running scratch.
RR6 -  Any car starting scratch will not be eligible for passing points. They
       will be eligible for finishing points only.
RR7 -  Points are awarded to the car that has qualified for the event. There 
       will be no interchanging of cars during the event. Qualified means to have 
       entered and received points or positioning in the race event.
RR8 -  Only the person timing in the car is allowed to race in the day's events.
       Approved relief driver must be reported to the Pit Boss immediately. The
       use of an approved relief driver is up to the discretion of the Pit Boss. 
       Must be for a valid reason.
RR10 - All drivers MUST attend the driver's meeting when called. Any driver
       not attending the meeting will run scratch. (SEE # RR6)
RR11 - All race cars and drivers not at the track for the drivers meeting will
       run scratch. (SEE # RR6) Drivers meeting will be held at 6:10pm for evening races
       and 12:10pm for afternoon races.
RR12 - No repairs or persons are allowed on the track, unless approved by 
       pit boss. No tools to be allowed. Limited to one pit person per car. 
       Exception may be made for safety items, at the discretion of the Pit Boss.
RR13 - Any car entering the pits on a red or yellow flag will go to the back unless
       otherwise stated by pit boss due to a safety issue.
 
RR14 - Any car having mechanical trouble and impeding traffic must move
       to the pit.
RR15 - Cars must enter the track from the front entrance and exit the track from 
       the rear entrance unless otherwise directed by the Pit Boss.
RR16 - Any accidents or spin outs on the first lap of any race shall result in a 
       re-start. Only one full re-start to any race.After one full restart, cars will be  
       started single file as per original line-up, with the exception of penalized 
       cars.See RR17.
RR17 - In the event of a stoppage on a red or yellow flag during the race, cars
       will line up in single file, and according to the last completed lap on the 
       lap sheets. Cars causing the stoppage will start at the rear.
       IN THE CASE OF ANY LINE-UP DISCREPANCY, INCLUDING ORIGINAL
       LINE-UPS, DRIVERS MUST ADVISE PIT BOSS ON FRONT STRAIGHT-                              
       AWAY!!
RR18 - Any car not closing up or maintaining position on a re-start after a 
       warning from the Officials will be re-positioned to the back.
RR19 - If a car is out of action on the track while a race is in progress, the 
       driver must remain in the car with the seat belt fastened, and helmet
       on until the car is removed from the track, or until directed by officials.
       This does not apply to fire or rollover. Any driver not complying with
       this rule may be DISQUALIFIED from that race.
                                                                                                                 
RR20 - Cars causing repeated stoppages may be BLACK FLAGGED.            
RR21 - Intentional nerfing (pushing) and/or chopping (hitting) will result
       in being BLACK FLAGGED.
RR22 - Intentional running in the infield, over the berm, or spraying the pits                                                                                                                                                                                           following a spinout may result in a $25 fine or a black flag.
RR23 - If a car receives a black flag, he/she must proceed directly to pit boss in pits.
       Penalty up to discretion of track officials. (ie: Points lost, Lap penalties, Stop & go)
RR24 - If a car receives a black flag or mechanical flag and speeds into the pits,
       etc., car and driver must leave the track altogether, and all points
       accumulated for that day will be eliminated. To the discretion of Track
       Officials.
RR25 - Cars receiving a black flag may be disqualified for the remainder of that 
       race day and further action may be taken if deemed necessary by officials.
RR26 - All protests must be made within 10 minutes of the end of the last event
       for the day. Only drivers are able to make protests. All protests must be
       in writing.
RR27 - In the event of a protest, Track Officials and Rules Committee decisions, 
       are FINAL.
RR28 - No mirrors of any type are permitted on cars at Tri-Port.
RR29 - Car changes must be of the same class NO EXCEPTIONS.Car replacement
       being used must have been inspected and passed for this years race 
       season.
       See also RR7.
RR30- During any race, a driver may stop to advise pit boss of any valid safety     
      concern without losing position on restart. Yellow will be thrown when pit boss 
      has deemed safety concern to be valid.
              
RR31- Each car will receive 2 laps for time trials. Waive offs must be done prior to   
      receiving the checkered flag. Car must then proceed directly to the pit boss,   
      barring necessary repairs. Car will then receive ONE more timed lap, which WILL 
      BE THE OFFICIAL TIME!!
